LIVVY--Wikis can be used to encourage the exchange of ideas and opinions on comments made by other students about a topic or idea. When my own daughters took online courses, part of their weekly assignments were the exchange of ideas between students in the class. Since everyone could see all the comments, I would assume a Wiki was being used.
The only problem I see with many of these forms of new technology is the getting away from personal interaction. So much of our communication is now done via the Internet, texting etc. we are losing our people skills.

I don't think we are necessarily losing our people skills, but are re-directing them in a different direction. Web 2.0 is helping technology become more interactive so that people CAN stay in touch - the trick is to learn how to balance everything and , for teachers, to teach the kids how to balance
